Kim Muhich
Education / Credentials. After graduating from Davidson College, Kim obtained a Masters in Autism and Developmental Disabilities from the University of Texas at Austin. After a few years of consulting, publishing research, and starting a Ph.D at Vanderbilt, Kim realized she missed the kids (and her old college town)!
Passion for Teaching. Turning to a low income school in Charlotte, Kim spent three years teaching special education and third grade. Her students quickly earned the title she gave them as “the hardest working kids in Charlotte.” One of her greatest accomplishments is the statistic defying growth of her students in math and reading. She also wrote 3rd grade literacy curriculum for the district, developed and taught district-wide professional development for principals and teachers on behavior, and created a training library for the special education department.
Outreach and Family. Now Kim spends most her time with her husband, Andy, who is the missions pastor at Lake Forest Church, and her baby girl, Ellie. In her free time, she mentors a group of high school girls through Caterpillar Ministry, tutors her old students, is active at Lake Forest Church, and meets with anyone in Charlotte who is willing to talk education!
