Charlita Joseph is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a major in Economics and minor in Organizational Communication. She was a scholarship athlete and four-year letter winner in the 49ers’ Women’s Basketball program. Professionally, she is a licensed insurance claims professional currently employed in Bank of America’s Insurable Risk Management department.

Her passion, however, is basketball. For almost 20 years, Charlita has been a volunteer coach for girls’ basketball programs in local church and recreational leagues, including the last 4 years coaching the Varsity Girls Basketball team at Central Cabarrus High School. Prior to coaching high school basketball, Charlita officiated basketball in the local recreational leagues for 3 years; and currently officiates volleyball during the “off season” for basketball. Charlita is passionate about mentoring and developing young ladies through basketball because it was through her own experience with the sport that she learned teamwork, discipline, professionalism and developed confidence. She has experienced that these characteristics have spilled over, in a very positive way, into all aspects of her life.  It’s now her desire to share this knowledge and experience with other young ladies participating in sports.

In addition to LIFT 4:10, Charlita is an active member of her alma mater’s Alumni Board of Directors and serves as the Secretary for its Black Alumni Chapter through which she is able to mentor current students and volunteer within the community. She has recently been tapped to be a mentor in the Ruth G. Shaw Leadership Program at Central Piedmont Community College for 2016-2017.  It was Charlita’s love of basketball that led her to found the Charlotte Invasion in 2014, a professional women’s basketball developmental team which is an active member of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (“WBCBL”).  Charlita currently serves as the Regional Director for the Carolinas region.

Charlita and her two daughters, 21 years old and 7 years old, are members of The Park Church and reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.
